All day everyday Kindergarten is an idea whose time has come.

Schools receive the full $6,700 per student no matter if the Kindergartener is in school half the time or all day everyday.

School districts throughout Michigan are making the change including Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Delton Kellogg, and even tiny Martin.

This week, Wayland Union Schools announced that its parents could choose to send Kindergarteners to school on either alternate days, or all day everyday.

Parents have overwhelmingly supported the all day everyday option. Why? Because sending students to school every other day is confusing and difficult. Finding childcare for the off days is a costly challenge. If there is a snow day, or if the child is ill, then the child could go for a week or more without school.

All day everyday kindergarten gives youngsters the structure and time that they need. Not only is it good for the students, but it is also good for the parents.
