Would you vote in favor of selling the Moe Road property? If the school is in a financial crisis where the expenses will far exceed the revenue, then selling assets like the Moe Road property would appear reasonable. Given the current efforts of the school to simply balance its budget, it seems premature to sell this property. Its value is very likely to increase greatly in value as the community blooms in size due to the opening of M-6 and the southern expansion of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. A wide reaching survey should be done to determine the desired location for the next school building. It’s possible that the families in the northeast part of the district (including Freeport and the quickly growing community of the Whitneyville Road corridor) near the Moe Road property would like a local neighborhood elementary school (possibly K through 5th grade) there. |
