What is my initial reaction to changing from two bus runs to one bus run?

My initial reaction is that this would make a great district wide survey question.

There are pros and cons to having one bus run, as there are with the two bus runs.

Not having all the facts such as the short term and long term financial costs, the effects on the families of the bus drivers who will have less hours, etc. I can only say that I initially lean toward one bus run because the safety of the children, particularly the elementary children, could be increased by getting on the bus with older siblings, and this would reduce the time children spend home alone.

This change would probably push back the middle and high schools start times, which research has shown is better educationally for teenagers.

A public survey, preceded by a community forum offering the pros and cons of each choice, could offer a great deal of insight into how to make this important decision.
