![]() Hello, my name is Aaron Wissner. (Note: I haven't updated some of these pages in a while, so take them with a grain of salt. You could say that some are a bit tongue in cheek.) Thank you for visiting my personal pages. If you are interested in learning more about peak oil or sustainability, may I suggest the following starting places: Value System on Live Journal - All of my articles, essays, and ruminations on peak oil, sustainability, value systems, and the state of the world. The Local Future Network - A brand new nonprofit educational outreach organization, launched in 2008, in order to educate the public to the issues of peak oil, climate change, and sustainability. NewCulture on YouTube - Over a dozen original videos on the topics of peak oil, climate change, and sustainability, including my extremely compact 10-minute summary on peak oil and the future. Now on to some historical information about me. This is my sixteenth year as a teacher. I teach at Wayland Union Middle School in Wayland, Michigan. In 2005, I was very involved with various new efforts. In school, I was still on the technology committee, the middle school's weekly planning meeting (TSC), the superintendent's advisory council and the gifted & talented advisory council. For the union, I served at the local, county, region, state and national level. Outside of school, I participated in politics and am active in various non-profit educational organizations. I have recently began to sponsor community education and speaking on the topic of peak oil. I enjoy creative things like taking pictures, making videos, writing and creating web sites. For comparison, in 2002, I was chair of the middle school applied arts department, member of the middle school curriculum council, member of the district technology curriculum council, and member of the district's school improvement council. I was also treasurer for the local teachers association (union) and chaired the Allegan County President's Coordinating Council for the MEA/NEA. For fun, I was attending all the board of education meetings and sending out summaries of the meetings to the school staff. Below are a few pictures from a few years back that I think turned out quite nicely.
