Activities

MPSERS Board:

The MPSERS Board is the appointed governmental body which oversees the operations of our retirement system.

Preparedness:

CAREEA maintains a database of members so that we can contact all of you quickly in case there is some reason that we should mobilize to protect our interests in Lansing. This includes an e-mail database for instant Internet contact. If you have not recorded your e-mail address with us, please do so by e-mailing Phyllis Rule at rulepr1st@yahoo.com

Helping MEA with organizational chores:

Our group also volunteers to help MEA-R with organizational chores, such as putting together materials for our state-wide meeting in the spring, mailing election materials in years when there are state-wide elections, and counting the ballots after those elections.

We can be quite busy at times, and your help would be greatly appreciated when we put out the call for willing hands.

Newsletter to keep members informed:

Our newsletter is published four or five times a year. Issues are mailed to all paid-up members of CAREEA. Non-members receive some issues in hopes of encouraging them to join. One issue is addressed to MEA-R members in the Region 8 area and includes a travel brochure. Proceeds from the sale of the tours are used to finance our contributions of books to area school libraries.

We try to include timely legislative news to keep members aware of matters of particular concern to retired school employees.

Be alert for your chance to help us with the assembly and mailing of these newsletters. Members with no Internet access depend on us to keep them informed.
