HVEF FOUNDERS ENDOWMENT CAMPAIGN
Fall 2005
Background & Mission

The Huron Valley Educational Foundation (HVEF) is a non-profit, regionally based organization started by parents, educators and community leaders in 1996.
The mission of the Foundation is to create a significant impact on education in the Huron Valley community by encouraging creative and innovative educational experiences through leadership and financial assistance.
The Foundation’s funding is supported solely by charitable, tax deductible contributions. Historically HVEF has organized fund raising events to raise the dollars needed to fund grants for the students in the Huron Valley School District.

Creating a New Endowment Fund

The Huron Valley Educational Foundation is working with the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan in order to create, manage and grow an Endowment Fund specifically for HVEF. In addition, the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan will provide additional tax advantages for anyone who contributes to this new Endowment Fund.
It is the intent of the HVEF trustees to run a campaign annually in order to grow the HVEF Endowment Fund. This year, however, we have a unique opportunity to estabilsh an Endowment Fund for the first time and in addition receive matching funds from the Kresge Foundation.
To take advantage of this opportunity, HVEF has established the HVEF Founders Endowment Campaign.

HVEF Founders Endowment Campaign

The Huron Valley Educational Foundation has a unique opportunity to crystallize its ten years of providing grants to our schools creating an Endowment Fund that will ensure its future for generations to come.
The long-term goal of HVEF is to build an endowment that will enable the organization to become completely self-funded. This will ensure that our teachers and students will have a reliable and growing source of funding for creative and innovative projects that would otherwise not be funded.
The purpose of the HVEF Founders Endowment Campaign is to take advantage of a brief opportunity to raise additional funds. Beginning October 15, 2005, the Kresge Foundation is providing a 50% match for every dollar raised by non-profit organizations like HVEF. Matching funds of $1.5 million will be available until it has all been allocated to organizations on a first come, first served basis.
The HVEF Founders Endowment Campaign is reaching out to individual and corporate donors with an invitation to contribute at one of many giving levels. Once our initial objective has been met, the Founders Endowment Campaign will be closed and its donors will be honored with permanent recognition as founding member of the HVEF Founders Endowment Campaign.
The HVEF Founders Endowment Campaign has a goal of $300,000 in donations. With the Kresge match, that will place $450,000 in the HVEF Endowment Fund to be used to benefit the students of the Huron Valley area.
The minimum donation to qualify for the Kresge match is $1,000 and the maximum individual/corporate donation is $100,000.
