IMPORTANT: INFORMATION ON THE DISTRICT FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT (FSA)

In case you don't already know, beginning September 1st, our health care co-pays were increased from $5 to $10. As per contract, the district is reimbursing each member of PAK A health insurance $100 in a FSA, flexible spending account. A flexible spending account allows you to put money into the account pre-tax and then file claims for health care expenses against the account. The company, Mid-America, then reimburses you for those expenses. Many of you may have your own FSA already. It is important to note for those of you that have had the accounts in the past that over the counter medications are no longer covered. Co-pays, deductibles, and prescription drugs are covered.

It is important that you understand that you will only receive the $100 if you open up a FSA. L'Anse Creuse will put the $100 directly into your account. If you are opening up your own additional FSA, you must do that separately. If you do not open an FSA, you WILL NOT receive the money. The account must be opened by September 30 at 4 p.m. (NO EXCEPTIONS).

Everything you need to open the district funded account (and your own as well) is on the intranet.

Go to LCPS
home page, staff, then intranet. Log in and locate the information at the top of the page in purple. Click on the link "Attention Pak A teachers". The enrollment form is there with the $100 amount already filled out.

All of the information regarding FSA accounts, the form for the district funded account, and the form for a self funded account is there on the intranet. In addition, you can go to the Mid-America web page for additional information including what expenses are covered by an FSA account. The website is http://www.midamerica.biz

Make sure the form is completed and turned in to Colleen Schwark no later than September 30th at 4 p.m.

Any questions, feel free to contact me (Mara Wirtz) or, as listed on the information page, Colleen Schwark or Paul Sorgeloos
