New Information for the Start of a New School Year 2010 - 2011

1. A bargained insurance change goes into effect this year:

The co-pay for office visits has been changed from $5 to $10. Along with this change is the agreement that the district will put $100.00 into a Section 125 (flexible spending account) for all teachers. Only Pak A teachers will have the $100 district-funded Section 125 contribution on October 1, 2010. Please note: Per contract, only teachers who complete a "Flexible Benefits (125) Benefits Enrollment Form" during open enrollment Sept. 1 - 30 will be eligible for funding.

2. New employee contribution to the Health Care Fund begins:

The recent change in the 3% employee contribution to the state's Health Care Fund begins with the first 2010 - 2011 paycheck.

3. Riverside Academy contract update:

The bargaining teams are continuing to meet to try to settle the Riverside Academy contract. Though the team has been working hard, things are becoming a bit frustrating for all of us.

4. PAC campaign kickoff:

We are once again going to kick off our PAC campaign at the opening day meeting! Please be sure to bring cash or a check to make your PAC contribution. Forms will be available at the opening day meeting, but we are asking that the form is filled out and that the contribution and form be collected right then.

In addition, forms will be available through your building rep. at the end of your opening day staff meeting. Again, we are asking that the form is filled out and the contribution and form collected at that time, so please bring cash or a check with you for these meetings.

We are going to raffle off five (5) "Association Days" (like personal days that can be taken any time)! All PAC forms turned in by the end of the first full week of school will be eligible for this raffle. You will be notified by e-mail if you are the lucky winner of one of these Association Days.

Your political contribution has never been more important than it is today. With the budget crisis in Lansing, the lack of funding for public education, and the constant attacks on public educators, it is crucial at this time to help elect politicians that support public education and public educators!
