      The MEA recommended candidate for Governor, Virg Bernero, was selected in a landslide to be the Democratic candidate for Michigan’s governor in the November election. Mayor Bernero is a champion of all working men and women,  including MEA members. Now is the time for us to work hard to change Virg Bernero’s title from Mayor to Governor.

      Tuesday’s Primary Election showed excellent results for the Macomb County Education Association community. Of the 18 candidates recommended by the EA coalition, sixteen (89%) won the first hurdle of the November election. Just look at the list we recommended!

      Unfortunately, South Lake narrowly lost its tax limitation proposal. However, Lakeview passed its operating millage by 16%

      The next step is a discussion by the Macomb County EA groups as to which candidates we will be recommending for the November election.

      It will take continued work on the part of MEA members, making phone calls, walking, talking, and contributing money to candidates’ campaigns to have the pro-education candidates elected this November. I am confident that each of our members will be ready to answer the call when their local leadership asks for help in our endeavors.
