College & University Scholarships


Here are some of the many college and university scholarships that are available.  Information about other college and university scholarships can be obtained either on-line or by inquiring at the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships of the school that you are interested in.
 

Aquinas College...To apply for any Aquinas scholarship, just submit an admission application.  You will be automatically considered for all scholarships for which you are qualified.  Apply free at www.aquinas.edu/undergraduate.

Spectrum Scholarships...These are awarded each spring at the Spectrum Scholarship Competition on the Aquinas campus.  Candidates generally present very high grades and test scores.

Jerome C. Byrne Scholarship...Full tuition and room, renewable

Academic Leadership Scholarships...minimum 3.5 GPA, high test scores and demonstrated leadership, $9,000 awards, renewable

Mosignor Bukowski Scholarships...minimum 3.5 GPA, high test scores, $9,000 awards, renewable

Presidential Leadership Scholarships...minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated leadership, $5,000 - $8,500 awards, renewable

Father Philip Hanley Scholarships...minimum 2.7 GPA and church activity, $5,000 - $8,500 awards, renewable

St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarships...minimum 2.7 GPA, leadership, high test scores, $5,000 - $8,500 awards, renewable

Baker College Career Scholarship...due May 1, 2010

Amount:     $4,800 ($400 for each term)
Criteria:     Winners selected on the basis of academic achievement.

Bowling Green State University, Ohio...these are all automatic and renewable

     Michigan Success Scholarship...automatic $3,654 (½ out-of-state fee) for being a Michigan resident with either a minimum 3.0 GPA or a 21 ACT
     Faculty Achievement Scholarship...automatic $1,500 for minimum 3.5 GPA and 23 - 26 ACT
     President’s Achievement Scholarship...automatic $2,500 for minimum 3.5 GPA and 27 - 36 ACT
     University Professor’s Scholarship...automatic $14,400 (full fees) for minimum 3.8 GPA and 30 ACT

Central Michigan University’s Centralis Scholarship Competition

Amount:     Centralis Scholar Awards = $80,604 four-year value, Centralis Gold Awards = $45,936 four-year value, Academic Excellence Awards = $2,500 one-year value
Criteria:     All high school students with GPAs of 3.5 or higher are eligible to compete for the above awards.  For additional information, contact the Admissions office at CMU at 1-888-292-5366

Central Michigan University

Leader Advancement Scholarship...$2,000 renewable scholarship for students that have a 3.0 minimum GPA and integrity, self-confidence, and a desire to lead; for an online application go to www.cmich.edu/leadership; Application deadline is January 31, 2009.

Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association Scholarship...March 2, 2012

Amount:    $1,250 renewable

Criteria:     For children and grandchildren of EMU alumni enrolling at Eastern Michigan University as freshmen, sophomores, or transfer students for the fall 2012 semester.  Must have a minimum 3.2 GPA.  The award is not based on financial need.  Scholarship information is available online at www.emich.edu/alumni - click "scholarships".

Eastern Michigan University's Education First Opportunity Scholarship

Amount:    Full tuition coverage (minus federal, state, and other EMU aid)

Criteria:     For admitted students who are eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant and have achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA and a 20 ACT composite.

Eastern Michigan University Presidential Scholarship Competition...Dec. 6 or Dec. 13, 2008...8 am - 2 pm...(registration deadline Nov. 26, 2008)

Open to high school seniors who have been admitted to EMU with a specific combination of GPA and ACT/SAT scores.  Students get a guaranteed minimum scholarship offer of $12,000 over four years and the chance to take an essay test and personal interview for the opportunity to earn one of 16 four-year, full-ride Presidential Scholarships or one of 29 four-year Regents Gold scholarships.  Students get a $1,000 Housing Award offer and $1,000 Honors College Scholarship just for participating.

Grand Valley State University

Presidential Scholarships...Students with a 3.8 minimum GPA and 32 ACT are eligible for these awards which range from $3,000 - $7,000 per year up to four years

Faculty Scholarships...Students with a 3.6 minimum GPA and 29 ACT are eligible for these awards which range from $500 - $3,000 per year up to four years

Award for Excellence Scholarships...Michigan students with a 3.5 minimum GPA and 26 ACT are eligible for these awards up to $1,200 per year up to four years

Kettering University

These are merit scholarships which are renewable for three years.
   GPA 3.0+ and ACT 31+...$10,000/year
   GPA 3.8+ and ACT 27+...$10,000/year
   GPA 3.0 - 3.79 and ACT 27 - 30...$7,500/year
   GPA 4.0 and ACT 23+...$7,500/year
   GPA 3.0+ and ACT 24 - 26...$5,000/year
In addition to merit scholarships, all accepted applicants may be eligible for awards, grants and endowed scholarships.  Also, student’s earnings from professional co-op must be taken into consideration.  Co-op earnings help offset the costs of a student’s Kettering education.  On average, Kettering students earn between $40,000 - $65,000 over the course of the professional co-op program.

Lake Superior State University

Philip A. Hart Memorial Scholarship...A full tuition scholarship renewable for 4 years (5 years for education majors) for graduates of Michigan high schools or community colleges.  Applicants must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA and demonstrate interest in public service, as reflected through leadership roles and volunteer activities in their school and community.  Deadline for submission: April 1, 2007.

Leah Marie Bollin Memorial Award...For an LSSU student who has epilepsy or a similar seizure disorder.  Candidates must carry a minimum GPA of 2.0.  There will be four $1,000 scholarships awarded each year.  Deadline for submission is May 1, 2007.

Lansing Community College

The 2010 - 2011 LCC Award and Scholarship booklets are available in Mrs. Smith’s office.  Applications for awards and scholarships will be due to Enrollment Services on or before January 29, 2010.  Funding is available for associate degree, certificate or transfer programs.

Northern Michigan University Presidential Scholars Competition...Nov. 1 - 2 or Nov. 8 - 9, 2009

High School seniors with an ACT composite score of 24 or higher AND a recomputed cumulative (9th - 11th grades) GPA of 3.5 or higher.  Scholarships range from $2000/yr to full tuition/room/board.  Call 800-682-9797 for more information.

Oakland University...To be considered for scholarships, entering freshmen must apply to the university by January 15, 2011.

Saginaw Valley State University Scholarships

     President's Scholarship: If you graduate 1st or 2nd in your class and have at least a 24 ACT, you automatically qualify for tuition and fees for 4 years -OR- have a minimum 3.7 GPA and 28 ACT.
      University Scholarship: Any student with a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA automatically qualifies for $1,000 per year for 4 years.
     Dean's Scholarship: If you graduate with a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA and a minimum ACT composite of 24, you are considered for this competitive scholarship.  Students receive $3,000 per year for four years.
     Music/Theater Scholarships: There are various music and theater scholarships available, ranging from $500 to tuition for 4 years.
In addition to the above scholarships, SVSU offers hundreds of other scholarship opportunities with a wide range of criteria.

Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts

2008 High School Scholarship Program...February 2, 2008

This competition if for all high school seniors graduating in 2008 who are interested in a career in radio or television.  Eligible students must take an exam, known as the CPAT, at Specs Howard School in order to enter the competition.  The exam may be taken only once.  Competition with the top ten scores on the CPAT will be selected as finalists.  Finalists will be notified and invited to the school to write an essay and meet with a panel of judges from the industry.  Three ways to RSVP: mail the postcard, call (248) 358-9000, or email information to cpruchniak@specshoward.edu.  Deadline to RSVP is February 1, 2008.

University of Michigan Flint

Scholarship Deadline...Students need to apply by November 1st to receive full consideration for merit scholarships.  All scholarships are based on GPA and test scores.
