Syllabus for Computer Lit

One Quarter Class

Required in 7th Grade

Purpose of the class:

This class is designed to teach basic Word Processing, Drawing, Painting, & Spreadsheet skills. Presentation programs such as PowerPoint will also be introduced. New thehnologies such as Wkiks & Online Collaboration will be examined. Each of these units will take 1-2 weeks to complete. Students will learn by self-directed and teacher-directed lessons that include hands-on practice. Students will be assessed through quizzes and exams covering the various skills taught. Students will also learn and be quizzed on Vocabulary words that pertain to each unit.

Student’s grades will be based on the following Criteria:

Participation: Being on time to class and working on class objectives each day (10%)
Weekly Vocabulary Quizzes (10%)
3 Typing Tests measuring Speed & Accuracy (10%)
Skill Quizzes on each Unit (30%)
Exams for each Unit (40%)
