On November 10, 2003, The Byron High School Library was renamed after a beloved community member, Mr. George B. Vince. George lived and worked in the Byron Community his whole life, and did everything he could to support the community and the school system. George started community recycling, spent his days shoveling and keeping the streets of Byron clean and neat, along with our school grounds and sports complexes. He made an effort to get to know the people of Byron and their children, and was always present at home sporting events to support our B.H.S. student athletes. He supported the venture between the community and the library to serve the community and the school jointly with its services, and was a faithful library patron. To show its appreciation of a life of service to the school and community, The Village Council and The Byron Area School Board Of Education renamed our library, The George B. Vince Community Library. Sadly, Mr. Vince passed away January 23, 2004. His funeral was held at Byron High School, and the whole town showed up to pay their respects. On August 3, 2004 a millage was passed to continue the services of the George B. Vince Community Branch Library in the community which was so dear to George's heart. George Vince will always have a place in the hearts of the people of Byron. He may be gone, but he will not be forgotten!
