REA Meeting Minutes

September 24, 2009
7:00 AM at the high school

Members Present—Tina Cole, Debbie Sekula, Teresa Ranger, Jan Troutman, Sheri Westerhof, Tony Bloink, John Schleder

President’s Report—Tina asked the building reps. to post a sign-up sheet for teachers to sign up to attend a board work session and regular board meeting.  Sheri will get the meeting dates from Debbie Schweiger.  The executive board should work on collecting for PAC.

Vice—President/Grievance Chair Report—Jan mentioned that the vending machine money is still not coming to the teachers.  It will be looked into and will most likely need to set up an internal account.

Secretary’s Report—Debbie distributed copies of the minutes from the March 19, 2009 meeting.  Teresa Ranger motioned to accept the minutes as written seconded by John Schleder.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report—No report at this time
PAC Chair Report—No report at this time
RA Delegate Report—No report at this time

New Business Items

  1. School Board Meeting Attendance—We need to encourage the membership to attend the school board meetings. A sign-up sheet will be posted in each building.
  2. Appoint Building Reps—Because of the changes in teacher placement two new building reps will be appointed for a term ending June 2010.
  3. Middle School—Sheri Westerhof motioned to appoint Janet Chiakmakis seconded by Jan Troutman.  Motion carried.
  4. High School—Sheri Westerhof motioned to appoint John Schleder seconded by Jan Troutman.  Motion carried.
  5. Appoint New Treasurer—Carol St. Mary has stepped down as REA treasurer.  Sheri Westerhof motioned to appoint Teresa Ranger as the new REA treasurer seconded by Jan Troutman.  Motion carried.
  6. PAC—The Exec. Board will help collect the PAC money in each building.  Debbie will distribute copies to all exec. Board members of members already paid and personal contact will be made.
